Sunday 12th June sees the relaunch of Soul4Soul, Liverpool’s premier live Soulful Music event at one of the city’s most famous venues, The MAGNET Liverpool. The event, which offers a platform to some of the best up and coming local & national soulful artists, has been running in the city for the last 5 years and has featured artists like JP Cooper, Lauren Housley, Ayanna Witter Johnson, Mic Lowry, Kristyna Myles, Esco Williams & many more.
So join us in our Soul Revolution in June with U.S folk / Soul artist Jc Villafan, Liverpool based dark RnB artist Neil Noa and more TBC.
JC Villafan, a Los Angeles based singer-songwriter, began his musical career in coffee shops and neighborhood venues. Along with his evocative sense of lyricism and expressive guitar work, his charming stage presence and soulful vocal ability captivated a local fan base which has now expanded internationally.
Villafan’s EP entitled, ‘Sweet Time’ was released in 2012 to critical acclaim and it earned him an L.A Music Critic Award for Best EP OF 2012. Since the release of the EP, Villafan has gained a substantial amount of publicity through Europe.
Villafan has recently released his debut album, America’s for Dreamers; an album that tells the story of his parents seeking opportunity in a different country. The story of the album continues with his ceaseless pursuit of a dream – a selfless dream that oversights fame and fortune for making a difference and uplifting those who stop to listen.
Born and bred in the cultural hub of Liverpool, exciting up and coming artists NEIL NOA studied music since leaving school with a focus on music production. A multi instrumentalist playing guitar, keys and vocals, Neil took a break from music to focus on developing a style, which incorporated his production skills alongside his contemporary soulful vocals. This led to the development of a style with roots in electronic music with a hint of folk layered with soulful, melancholic vocals, a style which could be described as dark RnB. The stand out track “Forever Gone” from his forthcoming EP was recently shortlisted for Glastonbury 2016, and was selected to join the list from 6000 other artists. Neil has been making more and more music recently and his debut EP will be released in June 2016
You may not have heard of Satin Beige before, but you might well have seen her playing cello and singing backing vocals for well established Liverpool act Stephen Langstaff, or even accompanying Liverpool legend Tommy Scott of Space on cello.
Her own sound though, is something else entirely; Sultry, sassy and soulful R&B, at times tinged with flavours of jazz and sprinklings of cello.
Her music has been described by Getintothis as ‘cello infused, lyrically soulful R ‘n’ B’ and compared to the likes of Ed Sheeran and Alicia Keys.
In 2015 she was lucky enough to be selected for a one-to-one session with Sir Paul McCartney, as well as having the chance to play acoustically around the country.
She is currently in the studio with producer Jon Withnall (Coldplay, Louis Berry), and working on her new live show. Her 15th July gig at East Village Arts Club will be a taste of things to come.
We guarantee a great evening of live music, friendly people and a great atmosphere.
Tickets are available online via skiddle.
